PTT Turkish Women’s Basketball Cup excitement is starting with Quarter Final matches to be played at Artuklu New Sport Hall in Mardin today. Near East University is facing Abdullah Gül University and Botaş is facing Çukurova Basketball today for the first matches of the Quarter Finals.

Run by the Turkish Basketball Federation, PTT Turkish Women’s Basketball Cup matches will be held in Mardin on 21-25 February this year. All games will take place at Artuklu New Sport Hall and will be broadcasted live by Tivibu Spor.

Near East University, Fenerbahçe, Hatay Büyükşehir Belediyespor, Botaş, Çukurova Basketbol, Beşiktaş, Mersin Büyükşehir Belediyespor and Abdullah Gül University; the teams that completed the first half of Turkish Women’s Basketball League in top 8, will compete to win PTT Turkish Women’s Basketball Cup.

Near East University Sports Club released that Near East University will face Abdullah Gül University at Mardin Artuklu New Sport Hall at 14:30 ( 15:30-Turkey local time) on Wednesday 21 February, 2018.

The second game of the day will take place between Botaş and Çukurova Basketball at 17:00 (18:00-Turkey local time). The winners of these two matches will compete in Semi-Final on Friday 23 February 2018.

The other Quarter Final games will take place on Thursday 22 February 2018. Hatay BŞB faces Beşiktaş while Fenerbahçe faces Mersin BŞB. The winners of these two games will compete in Semi-Final to qualify for Final.

The winners of Semi Final games will compete in Final on Sunday 25 February 2018. Near East University was the winner of Turkish Women’s Basketball Cup last year.

Zafer Kalaycıoğlu: “We want to have our name written on the cup once again……”
Reminding that they won the Turkish Women’s Basketball Cup last year, Near East University Women’s Basketball Team Head Coach Zafer Kalaycıoğlu stated that they wanted to take the cup to their museum this year as well.

“I firmly believe that we represent the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus in the best way. PTT Turkish Women’s Basketball Cup is one of the important basketball organizations. It was the first cup that we won last season as Near East University Women’s Basketball Team. It is proud to compete for the cup again this year. We are at the top spot of the league as well. I think it will be a cup contest that will be the scene of challenging and tough matches. I hope basketball fans will watch joyous matches. We will do our best to represent the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and Near East University in the best possible way. I wish success for all teams“ said he.
