Last season Near East University Women’s Basketball Team achieved the Championship of Turkey for Women’s Basketball League; FIBA Women’s European Cup and is currently making preparation for the next season. It has recently recruited a rising star, the young athlete Cansu Köksal.

According to the press info release issued by the Directorate of Press and Public Relations of Near East University, a contract signing ceremony was held to recruit Cansu Köksal to the Women’s Basketball Team of Near East University with Chairman of the Club Işık Eyigüngör.

Providing details regarding the young athlete Cansu Köksal, it was expressed that she was born in 1994 and that she played as forward and was known as a rather talented athlete. Previously, she had contributed in winning the Turkish Young Women’s Basketball Championship and Women’s Basketball League Championship of Turkey. She is 1.87cm tall and she played her first match in the 2012-2013 Season. Furthermore, she played in the 2010 U16 Europe Championship with the National Basketball Team where she scored 8.3 points, 6.9 rebounds, 1 assist. In 2014, Cansu Köksal played as part of the A National Team to participate in World Championship and later in 2017, she participated in European Championship where she played for 16.8 minutes, scored 5 points, 2.8 rebounds.

Cansu Köksal, who previously played for and A National Women’s Basketball team of Turkey, stated that she was very excited to become a member of the Near East University Women’s Basketball Team and added that this team was a team which all basketball

players wanted to be a part of. She further added that this was due to the value given to athletes of the team. Moreover, she said that she wanted to assure the continuation of the success achieved by the NEU Women’s Basketball Team and that she was ready to work hard to achieve this.

Işık Eyigüngör “Cansu will be a symbol athlete of the future!”

Making a statement regarding Cansu’s transfer, Near East University Women’s Basketball Team Chairman of Club, Işık Eyigüngör, stated that Cansu Köksal was very talented and due to her physical features she was to become a symbol athlete in the future.
